Kathryn Harrold on The Rockford Files
I've seen a number of people online saying that it's too bad that Kathryn Harrold didn't have a bigger screen career. It's true that it would have been nice if she had appeared in a few more successful projects, especially feature films, but I think it would be wrong to say that she wasn't a successful actress. Kathryn Harrold worked steadily from the late 1970s to the 1990s and beyond. Besides co-starring in a few major motion pictures (including her own horror movie, The Sender), Kathryn Harrold maintained a steady presence on television for over two decades. Just because she doesn't have a household name shouldn't deter anyone wanting to delve into the work of this fantastic actress. (oops...end rant)
In late 1978, Kathryn Harrold made her first appearance on the hit TV series The Rockford Files. Besides her exceeding physical attractiveness, Kathryn Harrold also had great chemistry with Rockford Files star James Garner. Portraying the beautiful, blind psychologist Megan Dougherty, Kathryn Harrold made quite an impact and subsequently was asked to reprise her role in a episode in the next season and then again in 1996 follow-up TV movie. Because she did such a good job playing a blind character, many Rockford fans have wondered if the talented actress was actually blind in real life (Kathryn Harrold is, in fact, not actually visually impaired...she's just a great performer!).
Kathryn Harrold's Rockford Files appearance was the thing that really brought the actress to national attention and was the key to the larger success she would see in the following years. Previously, she had been on the daytime soap The Doctors and had first come to the big time by guest starring earlier in 1978 on an episode of Starsky and Hutch.

Meg Foster in Adam at Six A.M.
What was Meg Foster's first feature film role? It was a small part in Michael Douglas' second movie, Adam at Six A.M. Released in mid-1970, Adam at Six A.M. was filmed in the fall of 1969 and as such rates among some of Meg Foster's first Hollywood work. The actress appears in the film scantily clothed/briefly nude, smokes and just generally looks beautiful during her short time on screen. She gets to ask Michael Douglas the question "Well, what's on for tonight, smiley?" before ending up in bed with him. Really, it's a nice feature film debut that really leaves you wanting to see more of her (Meg Foster and Michael Douglas would end up working together again on his TV show The Streets of San Francisco).

Diana Rigg and The Assassination Bureau
In 1969, Diana Rigg co-starred with Oliver Reed in The Assassination Bureau. Both of the lead stars gave pitch perfect performances and were joined by a great supporting cast in an incredibly fun movie. Diana Rigg's role was ideal as a follow-up to her legendary run on the classic television series The Avengers. In fact, some of the appeal (as well as some of the publicity) for The Assassination Bureau came from the fact that the movie was Diana Rigg's first big feature film and her most visible project following her departure from The Avengers. Her role in The Assassination Bureau might be the best from the first phase of her career. She would go on to be featured much more recognizably in the James Bond film On Her Majesty's Secret Service and star alongside George C. Scott in The Hospital, but these roles could be considered somewhat less substantial in terms of time on screen. The Assassination Bureau featured Diana Rigg at perhaps the absolute height of her powers: youthful, beautiful, funny and charming.

Samantha Eggar in The Molly Maguires
Samantha Eggar was at the height of her powers in the mid to late 1960s, taking part in a number of very memorable motion pictures. One such movie was The Molly Maguires which was filmed in 1968 but not released until 1970. It was an expensive film that ended up being a notorious financial failure at the time of it's release (a similar situation occurred with another Samantha Eggar movie, 1967's Doctor Dolittle). However, The Molly Maguires is an excellent piece of cinema, completely undeserving of it's 'flop' status. Samantha Eggar doesn't have all that much to do in The Molly Maguires but she makes the most of her time on screen. She looks great throughout the movie and, thankfully, she does not go over the top with her Irish accent!
