Kay Lenz: A career vs. a water bed
Here's a early press piece about actress Kay Lenz which was originally published in December, 1973. At this point, her career was just beginning to take off due to her starring roles in the feature film Breezy and the well-received TV movie Lisa, Bright and Dark. The odd title of this article refers to the fact that she used to date a waterbed salesman.

Lois Chiles newspaper coverage 1972-1978
The following is a collection of newspaper clippings about actress Lois Chiles spanning the first decade of her career. She first started getting press at the end of 1972 for her second movie, Robert Redford/Barbara Streisand project The Way We Were. Lois Chiles then garnered more publicity in 1974 for her supporting role in the film The Great Gatsby. The actress then took several years off in the mid-1970s but newspaper coverage of her activities resumed in 1977 when she began filming Death on the Nile. In 1978, Lois Chiles began working on her biggest movie, and perhaps best remembered role of her career, the James Bond classic Moonraker. Of course, her new-found status as a Bond girl brought her even more press attention.

Janet Louise Johnson in the newspapers
In 1978, Janet Louise Johnson (who changed her name to Janet Julian) debuted as Nancy Drew on the ABC TV series The Hardy Boys/Nancy Drew Mysteries, taking over the role from Pamela Sue Martin. Accordingly, Janet Louise Johnson received a fair amount of press during the early months of 1978.
Mostly, people just wanted to get to know the new actress who was taking over the role of Nancy Drew. When Janet Louise Johnson was cast as Pamela Sue Martin's replacement, she was a new face on television (she had previously appeared as a child actor in small roles on Alias Smith and Jones and The Waltons back in 1973). Her assumption of the Nancy Drew role was slightly controversial since the network did not immediately explain why Pamela Sue Martin had departed.

Samantha Eggar: how it all began (in Hollywood)
The above article is one of the first press pieces about Samantha Eggar to be published in the United States. Samantha Eggar had only begun acting in 1961 and this short article appeared in American newspapers in January of 1962. It is interesting to note, however, that the actress would not appear in an American movie until several years later and that she would not appear in a Paramount Pictures production until 1970 (The Molly Maguires).
The article below was featured in American newspapers in the summer of 1964 and is an early publicity piece for Samantha Eggar. The following year, she would receive a great deal more press coverage following her Oscar-nominated role in The Collector. This article is actually promoting The Collector, though the film would not be released for another year.
Kitty Winn stars in Message to My Daughter in 1973
In 1973, Kitty Winn co-starred with Bonnie Bedelia and Martin Sheen in the ABC TV movie Message to My Daughter. Previously, Kitty Winn had done two other made-for-television movies: The House That Would Not Die in 1970 and also a less prominent role in Man on a String in 1972.
Message to My Daughter came out around the same time as the TV movie tearjerker Sunshine, and the two projects cover the some of the same ground. the following article touches on the similarity and explains how the two projects, though superficially similar are actually quite different.
