Barbara De Rossi in Stay as You Are and The Cricket

In 1978, Barbara De Rossi appeared in her first movie, Stay as You Are (the English title of Così come sei). She did not have a very big role in the film, with the bulk of the female screen time going to star Nastassja Kinski. However, the movie offered her some nice exposure and allowed an opportunity to act opposite the prolific Marcello Mastroianni.

Barbara De Rossi's second film was The Cricket (the English title of La cicala) in 1980. This movie offered her the chance to play a larger part and displayed her talents quite nicely.

Tarah Nutter on Nero Wolfe

In 1981, Tarah Nutter guest starred in an episode the detective show Nero Wolfe. The show was short-lived, and is best remembered today as either William Conrad's show between Cannon and Jake and the Fatman or as Lee Horsley's first show (or his show before Matt Houston). Tarah Nutter, after starring in the movie Without Warning, a sci-fi/horror cult classic released in 1980, then turned her attention to television roles. The first TV appearance she made was on Nero Wolfe, in a small but central part. In an episode called 'Before I Die' Tarah Nutter plays Elaine Page, a woman who is unaware that her father is a big-time criminal. When her father dies, Nero Wolfe is charged with ensuring that the young woman gets her inheritance.

Jill Townsend on The Wild Wild West

In 1967 and 1968, Jill Townsend was part of the cast of the CBS 70 minute western TV show Cimarron Strip. That show was cancelled after only one season, perhaps due in part to the fact that there were so many westerns on television at the time. After the demise of Cimarron Strip in 1968, Jill Townsend spent all of 1969 doing guest appearances on other popular old west TV series. Her first featured role on TV after Cimarron Strip was on The Wild Wild West on CBS and she followed that up with appearances on Bonanza and The Virginian for NBC. However, after this flurry of old west activity in the late 1960s, Jill Townsend would never appear in a western again. It was good while it lasted, though!

Jill Townsend appeared on an episode of The Wild Wild West called 'The Night of the Sabatini Death' which aired in early 1969. In the epsiode, Jill Townsend plays a blind woman named Sylvia Nolan who is unaware that she is the daughter of big-time criminal, Johnny Sabatini. Sabatini, just before he dies, asks star Jim West to make sure that a young woman gets a certain gift. Sabatini dies before he can give the whole story, so Mr. West and his cohort must visit Calliope, Missouri in order to begin unraveling the mystery. Alan Hale and Jim Backus, both of Gilligan's Island, appear in this episode of the show. Jill Townsend does very well with her part and looks quite lovely as well.

In 1976, Genevieve Bujold starred alongside Jack Lemmon in Alex & the Gypsy. The following are ten promotional photos from the movie.

Kitty Winn in Mirrors (1978)

I first became interested in Kitty Winn after watching The Panic in Needle Park, in which she gave an outstanding performance. Shortly thereafter I watched The House That Would Not Die and I was again very pleased with her work. Knowing that she was featured in the horror classics The Exorcist and Exorcist II, I had always wanted to see the final starring role of her career in the psychological voodoo horror movie Mirrors from 1978.

When I finally did get a chance to view Mirrors, I was not disappointed. I didn't have high expectations for the film, I just simply sat down and watched it not knowing what to expect exactly. Mirrors turned out to be engaging and rather engrossing. The movie is filled with great camera work, great New Orleans scenery and interesting imagery throughout. Kitty Winn is a very intriguing actress and she handles her part well. Her eyes are very expressive and she uses them to great effect. I feel like Kitty Winn was very deserving of this starring role; it's just too bad the movie did not experience wider popularity. I love the warmth of vhs, but I'd still love to see the film in remastered form and I think a dvd release could help this film find an audience.

Jill Townsend is Dulcey Coopersmith on Cimarron Strip

Though it only lasted for one season, Cimarron Strip was great show. But it was the presence of Jill Townsend as the lovely Dulcey Coopersmith, proprietor of the local inn, that really added to the noteworthiness of this 90 minute western. Played with such charm and grace, Jill Townsend really carved out a memorable spot in television history.
